The Community Preschool and School Age Care Service located at Scoil na Maighne (Moyne National School, Moyne, Thurles, Co. Tipperary) is seeking to employ motivated and committed Early Years Educators and School Age Care Operator, to begin in September 2025. A competitive salary is offered for each position. The available posts are as follows:

1. Preschool & School Age Care Service Manager

Role Overview: The Preschool Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the Preschool, ensuring the delivery of high-quality early childhood education and care. The Preschool Manager will oversee daily operations and administration, manage staff, maintain strong and positive relationships with parents and the community, and will liaise with stakeholders. This leader’s actions and approach will be key in fostering an inclusive environment for children, families and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the preschool, ensuring compliance with all regulations and standards.

· Develop and implement educational programmes that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children.

· Manage and mentor a team of childcare professionals, providing guidance and support.

· Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, addressing their concerns and providing regular updates on their child’s progress.

· Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visitors.

· Handle administrative tasks including budgeting, scheduling, and reporting to all funding agencies.

· Promote the preschool within the community and participate in local events and activities.

· Manage and supervise the before school care of children as part of School Age Care service.

· Make timely and accurate returns to the HIVE platform

Qualifications & Competencies required:

· Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education or a related field.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a childcare setting; supervisory or managerial experience is desirable.

· Comprehensive understanding of childcare regulations and best practice.

· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

· FAR certification (or willingness to obtain).

· A genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to their well-being and development.

· Good Knowledge of Microsoft office/ excel etc/ publisher etc.

· Good Knowledge of the HIVE platform.

2. Preschool Assistant Educator

Role Overview: The successful candidate will be required to work in partnership with the manager to ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the Service. The Assistant Educator will collaborate with the manager to provide and implement a child-led programme to foster social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. The Assistant Educator will communicate effectively with staff, parents and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist in the day-to-day operation of the preschool.

· Plan and implement the agreed educational programme including the completion of children’s learning and activity records.

· Work collaboratively and effectively with the Manager and other staff.

· Liaise and communicate with parents and families in a helpful and positive way.

· Supervise the before school care of children as part of SAC service, if required.

Qualification required:

· Minimum requirement: Level 5 Qualification in Early Childhood Education/Early Learning & Care

3. After School Care Operator

Role Overview: The After-School Care Operator will oversee and manage the after-school care service in Scoil na Maighne from 2pm onwards, as required. This role may be filled by the Preschool Manager or Assistant Educator, in part or fully, if they are willing to do so, or may be a separate appointment. This role demands an enthusiastic and energetic approach to organise and oversee child-led activities after school in Scoil na Maighne.

Responsibilities:

· The safe supervision of children attending after school care.

· The organisation of a range of child-led activities which children enjoy and in which they are interested, in collaboration with the committee.

· The maintenance of attendance records.

Qualifications

No qualifications are required for this role. However, evidence of an interest in the development or education of children is desirable.
